Let’s make moss topiary
The first thing I did was to paint my pots. I usually just paint in few areas and then wipe with paper towel to have that rustic feel.

As our paint is drying we can prepare our moss balls. Spanish moss comes in the clusters so you can either hot glue them, or use Mod-Podge as I did. After all dries out you can either use Adhesive spray to hold all together, or simply as I did – use a hair spray! Love how my moss balls look now!
Next, I used a small twig that I found outside and inserted it into the styrofoam ball to be used as my stem for my topiary tree. Push the twig about half way through your styrofoam ball so that it will be good and sturdy. Optional: apply hot glue to the end of the twig before you push it though the styrofoam.

Even though my tree twigs for my topiary are thick I still wanted to add some dimension so I wrapped it loosely with a rope. Used a dab of hot glue right under the ball to secure my rope and one more dab at the end.
Now we are getting ready to install our topiary tree into a terra cotta pots. You can use florist foam or crushed newspaper to fill your little pot.
Cover your foam or newspaper with more Spanish moss and you are almost done with your tree ! Time to decorate our topiary tree ! That is of course optional. They already look soooo good! I decided to add some ribbon and acorns that my son gathered form me before he went to college. Yes I am a bit of sentimental and also like to acknowledge his effort. Who goes on the date and things about acorns mom can use?? ha ha ha ha …My son!
