MacKenzie Childs Inspired Drop Cloth Pillow

I am super excited to introduce that project to you today. Today project really is a highlight of all what i like in one. If you follow me for some time you know I love flowers… love MacKenzie Childs products and pattern and of course love mixed media ! Let also not forget that I love budget friendly home decor ideas that are elegant and look original. I am super excited about this project. Are you ready to have fun with me? Supplies needed

  • drop cloth
  • chalk paint
  • hot glue fabric glue sticks
  • “>your favorite floral picks

    Did you know that drop cloth is made out of 100% cotton? That means it is perfect material for pillow. Since I am a big fan of MacKenzie Childs patterns I decided to go for it. You can see my projects inspired by this company HERE My goal was to freehand pitcher that I can decorate.

    I felt super confident at first to sketch my tea pot on my drop cloth. Pillow size that I was aiming for was around 16×16 so i cut rectangle roughly 16×36 out of my drop cloth folded in half and started to sketch with pencil.

    Wasn’t to satisfied with my spout but I decided not to worry about it now. It was time to paint! Out of experience with fabric painting I decided to go with CHALK PAINT and let me tell you it was a good decision! It covered like a charm my sketch. MAKE SURE TO ADD A CARDBOARD ON THE BACK OF YOUR FABRIC OF YOUR CHOICE SO PAINT WILL NOT BLEED THROUGH.

    How to draw a MacKenzie inspired check

    My choice pattern for my accent drop cloth pillow was to make a check. Black and white check. To make my life easier I decided to use popsicle stick to get my spacing even. I like to start in the middle of my project to make my lines. After my grid was completed it is time to put black acrylic paint to use and have fun!

    My drop cloth home decor diy is starting to look super awesome already. If you follow me for some time you know I love me some gold so I decided to paint my handle and spout that color. My tea pot is not the greatest looking but it is mine and lots of if is going to be for sure filled with flowers.

    I have so many flowers on hand that I made or got from Dollar Tree, so it was time to put all those together. Some I had paint a bit so they can work with my project but that is ok. I love me some challenges

    Love love to work on floral projects. Time to find out this perfect placement for them all on my drop cloth home decor diy. It will be for sure easier to hot glue your pillow edges on the inside so your flowers will not be damaged as you flip it.
