Supplies needed to transform your Dollar Tree watering can
- plastic watering can
- chalk paint available HERE
- vaseline
- Mod Podge
- Stencils
- texture paste.. Grab recipe HERE
- paint brushes
- wax and rub and buff
Let the watering can texture paste transformation begin
To start you need to either sand your plastic watering can or cover it with mod podge so your chalk paint have something to adhere to
I wanted to add some vintage feel to it so decided to add some blue acrylic paint here and there .Dry all well and then lets try to apply vaseline randomly all over for our chippy paint look later
I have all that covered in detail in video below … so make sure to watch it
cover all wet with another coat of chalk paint and then wipe clean all with paper towel to expose some of the blue paint. Love that chippy look . I am so happy to see original red there too
Now it is time to to add some texture ! Grab your stencils that you have and apply texture paste over them . My goal was to apply only in few places to keep with vintage makeover of that watering can from Dollar Tree
Grab your texture recipe HERE
Make sure to dry your paste well before starting next step. I would say it takes about 15 min for stencils to dry
In this step you will need to dry brush over your work … it is nicely coating your project without full coverage
when your are satisfied with your project shading it is time to dry it well and start to apply wax. I like to cover first all with clear wax and then with my finger add in some places dark wax and rub all nicely. Rub and buff with gold is my last step. Just add in some places only
and my vintage can looks soo beautiful .. Nice and vintge! All what I applied is showing beautifully
Make sure to watch full VIDEO below how all this came together
perfect little watering can to display in any place in your house alone or with any flowers even a live ones since can will hold water
