This project that I like to show you has a mind of its own. It all depends on material you are using to make one .Trust me I have made several in my lifetime so I know what I am talking about. This project was my favorite one to make with my Mom and still is. Today I like to make a Christmas tree out of yarn that can be display standing alone in groupings but can also be a charm while gift wrapping that later could be showcase as an ornament on the tree. Get your yarn and let’s make another keepsake! Are you ready for some more whimsical Christmas diy ? Let’s make tiered yarn tassel tree!
Supplies needed to make a tiered yarn tree

- cardboard template
- skewer or wooden dowel
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
Couple of days ago I went to Target to gather some necessities and I stopped by dollar spot there and spotted different gold metal trees. They instantly reminded me of trees I used to make. Check video below of those trees that I gave a makeover. Some were painted Inspired by MacKenzie Childs pattern some were just decoupaged with napkins.
Check below details on how to decoupage with fire. Napkin Burning technique is the game changer.

How to make Whimsical yarn tiered tassel tree- Whimsical keepsake Christmas ornament
There are no rules to making that tree. I like to make one with thicker yarn but have also tried to make one with rugs. Directions to make a tiered tassel tree are super easy. It is always helpful to start with template. As you can see I have pieces of cardboard in 3 different sizes What you see here is 3 , 4 and 5 inch high pieces. It is much easier to make a tassels that are different size
Remove your clusters of yarn tie on top to secure it , create a head of your tassel and of course then you are safe to trim all at the bottom
Bring dowel or wooden skewer and begin to line your tree up starting with longest 5 inch tassel to create tiered yarn tree.
I like to secure each tier with a bit of hot glue to make sure all stays in place.
As I mentioned earlier depending on what your intention are for your tree is the way you should finish it all. In my case today I like to make my tassel tree to stand up so I gathered mini spools that I secured them with wire and some hot glue to serve as my tree stand . You could use wood slices, wine cork , foam or as I did with my Mom we stuck them in the tea cups filled with paper.
