I bet you have seen those hearts at your local Dollar Tree. Aren’t they nice ! So many projects can be made using those . You can decoupage , cover with fabric but I like to use some molds on my heart!
Let’s create texture
If you follow me for some time you do know that I love lots of texture so I decided to use my napkin ply’s to bring lots of it . Make sure to check my post HERE to see how many wonderful things you can make with napkin ply’s .
Little bit of Mod Podge and all styrofoam is nicely hidden. It takes a bit to dry but that is ok .. We can now work on some embellishments. You can at this time paint your heart any color you like and dry to get some more of crackle texture.
Make sure to check this post HERE to see what else can you do with napkin ply’s. Did you know you can print on them and create your own napkins to decoupage with ? You can also make faux rice paper on top of all textures including wood grain. Save those napkin plies for sure
I am going to work on my molds with hot glue since I was out of foam clay that I also love to use. Super easy for your hands and your can work with it right away.
There are so many ways that you can fill them with. My choice was to use tiny flower clusters for my Dollar Tree puffy heart Vintage makeover. Make sure you hot glue gun is hot so you can fill your molds evenly . I like to shake them to make sure glue fills them fully
That little oval bunny frame was made out of paper towels . I bet you can use napkin plies too. See that method HERE
Silicone Molds details
Not going to lie when I tell you this part was the one that was a bit difficult for me ..lol You could fill your puffy heart all around but I decided to create nice cluster on one site so I can embellish some more later with different texture
Simple hot glue installation and of course clean coat of a paint that it is on the rest of my textured heart. My Dollar Tree valentines project is starting to look better and better with each step
Just because I love to keep things simple when it comes to project and love for texture and details to speak my heart was painted white. Some layers of dark wax buffed with clear wax brought so much character already and at the same time protecting my work.
Love what wax layers brought to my puffy heart project.
Make sure to watch video below on a whole process
Just because I love to use them as door hangers at times or because I love additional detail I decided to add some wire to the top of my heart wrapped with pieces of fabric from my rag bow
Perfect project on the budget! Love me my Puffy Dollar Tree heart makeover diy.
