- Pumpkin ( I used Dollar Tree )
- Black Chalk Paint
- Artificial Floral leaves/ buds – your choice
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue sticks
Instructions couldn’t be easier. I don’t know if you ever tried to paint Dollar Tree pumpkin but if you didn’t I need to let you know they need couple of coats of paint even if you are using a Chalk paint. It took me 2 coats to cover that bring orange. Make sure to let paint dry in between coats.
Steps to Dollar Tree pumpkin makeover
If you follow me for some time you know I love to make and decorate with flowers. I have so many different flower picks so I decided to use that in my project. While my pumpkin was drying I spray painted GOLD my artificial hydrangea’s clusters. Rust-Oleoum Metallic Gold spray paint is my trusty choice I am not really a big fan of gold but need to admit lately I add gold touches everywhere. Gold looks really good with black. It willl for sure be perfect as Halloween part of my decor.
Since I didn’t want to use whole cluster I separated my pick into little flowers and spray painted them until they were coated nice with gold and had that metallic feel.
I decided to install my freshly painted gold flowers in cascading form to bring more drama. As I was hot gluing my flowers to the pumpkin I noticed that original stem wasn’t showing. It was simply too short. I had no choice and replace it with what I had in my craft box. (Note to myself – pick a pumpkin with longer stem so you are not going to have go to plan B. It couldn’t be a stick from my yard as I like often to use . It has to be something sleek and smooth as my pumpkin. Thank Goodness for my craft box! I found something I can use this time, just need to paint it black like the rest of my pumpkin. It is still NO CARVE pumpkin DIY
Had no choice but to pull original stem that pumpkin came with and replace that opening with wooden piece I found in my stock of my pieces. I am so excited how my Halloween Pumpkin DIY is taking its own spin.
