Steps to make faux concrete like succulents planter
Painting white foam orange Dollar Tree pumpkin as a base is optional since we are going to be working on lots of layers of paint . I just had one already lightly spray painted on hand
- paint indents on your pumpkins black as it is shown in the picture below
As you can see some of those foam pumpkin are so close tougher but I actually don’t mind that. It actually makes this pumpkin look so real.
To make my life easier I decided to mix my black and white acrylic paint to get the shade of grey I like. My goal was to achieve warm grey. I promise i get that concrete pumpkin diy happening. It takes a hot minute to get where ai want
- paint sections between black lines grey.
- As you can see my grey coverage is not even but that was my goal

Faux Concrete planter DIY is coming together
- as the paint is still wet sprinkle little bit of flour on the sides of your pumpkin. Try to make sure that it sticks to it. Dry brush over flour with white acrylic paint in the pumpkin indents
- I absolutely love the way my pumpkin is turning into concrete. Flour gives super fun texture!
Use vertical strokes to paint multiple thin layers, leaving some areas without coverage. Instead of applying more paint to the brush, continue to brush to get the smallest amount of paint onto the pumpkin while building lots of layers.
Time to decorate now
I am super satisfied with my pumpkin so I decided to move into last step. Cutting out top portion of pumpkin. My faux succulents concrete planter is looking awesome ! Don’t you agree?
