How to make Adorable Dollar Tree Gnome DIY

Well the time has come! Let’s make that Holiday Gnome! Easy Gnome DIY! Don’t you love them ? I have this project for sooooo long on my TO DO list but every time I tried to make one something wasn’t working with a gnome hat. ( so I thought) Today I will just simply go for it! To make things more interesting I am going to attempt to make one with Dollar Tree merchandise! Those store bought Gnomes can get really pricey. Shall we make a Dollar Tree mop gnome ?

Things you need to make a EASYGnome DIY

• mop … yes a floor mop
• styrofoam cone
• fabric
• hot glue gun with glue sticks
• wooden bead 30mm

There are so many ways to go around that project and I am positive you have seen tons of them on Pinterest. I am going to show you my Gnome craft interpretation. As I mentioned before I have attempted that project so many times but my issue was always a hat. Whatever I did before it wasn’t making me happy. I decided to give one more try and couldn’t be more pleased.

Let’s begin to make our Dollar Tree Gnome DIY.

Directions are so easy overall, well except that hat….ha ha ha. Fabric that I am going to use is leftover fabric from my upholstery project that I didn’t have a chance yet to share but will. It was big enough wrap my Dollar Tree mop folded in half. I love my gnomes with over-sized hats so it is perfect! Time to pray for the best when all is done my hat I am so afraid of is good.

Time to work on our holiday Dollar Tree Gnome body

Styrofoam cone that you can buy at the Dollar store will work perfectly in this project. It seams it has a perfect height. To make my gnome perfect I like to cover Styrofoam up a bit so it will look better. Burlap is my solutions because I have lots of it around my house. Simply hot glue it to the cone. and Styrofoam is slightly disguised.

Don’t let you hot glue to cool off just yet. Let’s find a middle of the inside of our mop and attach it to the top of the cone .

Just like that…I didn’t even try to remove plastic parts from the mop. Hopefully it will help me with the hat. My holiday Dollar Tree gnome DIY is taking its shape… I can see it already. Don’t you?

Holiday Gnome Hat assembly

Fold your triangle in the half and hot glue to our gnome body and on the back. As you can see I left a little channel at the edge so I can add seasonal embellishments because this gnome is here to stay all year round I am afraid.

Even though it is a gnome made out of Dollar Tree mop I like to disguise it a bit and untangle each piece of “rope”. It is really not a difficult thing to do because those threads are very easy to work with. That also makes our holiday gnome beard look fuller and that is what I like.

And we are almost done ! I just need to attach gnome nose – our wooden bead with a hot glue and make a pom- pom to finish his our gnome hat. I really hope all will work out. Pom- pom making was a breeze with this easy to use machine. Have you tried it? Every single pom-pom is simply perfect! Isn’t he cute !?!?!? I am so pleased with my final product! My not to perfect gnome hat is just right! Tomorrow with a better light I am going to take him for photo shoot!
