Gorgeous Fall Acorns – Easy DIY
Didn’t plan to make that project at all … it just happened. One of the things I have had laying around in my craft area, that I couldn’t bare to part with, were easter eggs. Instead of throwing them out during my decluttering process I decided to recycle & re-purpose my cheap plastic easter eggs into adorable fall decor! ACORNS!! Very similar shape! If you are not that lucky like me you can use Styrofoam eggs
Let’s make some Acorns!
In order to make our Acorns to look real we need some pine cones. Cut apart the scales of the pine cone with pliers. I can tell you it is not that easy at the beginning but it can be done. You will break some for sure so don’t worry.
Just because I finished my Enchanted pumpkin out of the book and had a lot of paper scraps left paper was my first choice. I could of paint my eggs but I already had material that I could use… plus I will have a little theme in my fall decor.
When you pine cones scales are loose next step is to decorate our egg. Thin layer of Mod-Podge helped me secure my paper scraps to my egg. When that is done start to hot glue your pin cones scales to your egg.
Let your imagination go wild now…you can paint your eggs, you can Mod-Podge fabric, raffia, yarn, rope, leaves or even dried herbs …you can decorate them with anything you have in your home.
I am not done with my eggs yet, but couldn’t wait to share that idea with you. So pleased how nice my pine cones made out of plastic eggs look now!
