Have you ever craft with Paint Stir Sticks? They are awesome DIY source! Paint stir sticks are one of those things you never really think much about. You pick up a few free ones when buying some paint, and then that’s pretty much it. But you really should be thinking more about them, because they’re an amazingly versatile. You can make so many things with them! I usually buy a whole bundle every time I visit Home Depot or Lowes. They are only $1 whole 10 pack. Are you ready for another paint stir sticks craft. I crafted with them already soo many times but never had a chance to write about it so I think it is time! I made lamp shades, different baskets, signs , standing lamps and even mini windows …yes window…lol Todays project was triggered by chicken wire that I pulled out few days ago for my spring decor project. Just because I need to wait for my concrete eggs to dry ( stay tuned for that )I decided to keep myself occupy and craft with paint stir sticks and chicken wire. I think it is time to make some spring windows for my paper flowers. So let’s go to work and make Farmhouse window diy. Don’t you love good Farmhouse wall decor craft on the Dollar tree budget?
Things you need to create paint stir sticks Farmhouse Window with mullions wall decor DIY
- paint stir sticks 6 pieces
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- paint or stain
- chicken wire
To begin our project you need to align your paint sticks and hot glue them together. I like to mirror alignment of paint stir sticks on the top and bottom. Make sure that they are straight. If you like you can reinforce your sticks connection in the corners you can use staples too
When you are done with a frame it is time to make a mullions. Love that look. Install your sticks under frame you just made in the same matter with hot glue and maybe possibly some staples.
It seams we are done and it is time to paint them. I am using my favorite chalk paint that offers nice texture to my rustic looking mini window.

Time to make a Window sill
As I was waiting for my paint to dry I remembered that I have a long box from Dollar Tree that I purchased back in the early fall. Lucky for me this box was simply perfect size. Same length and super narrow to perfectly accent my window. I am so excited!!! My window is going to have a sill!! So happy!!
Just because my Dollar Tree box had some fall accents on it I decided to paint is on couple sides with the same chalk paint. Not tooo happy to cover buffalo check but it wouldn’t match with my project. Now my project turns into Dollar Tree craft.
Couple dots of hot glue and I have a window sill attached to my paint stir sticks window!! yay!! Super cute Dollar Tree craft! Don’t you think so?
Chicken wire will for sure add some character to my Farmhouse wall decor diy
Now it is time to deal with chicken wire to create that Farmhouse look for my window with mullions. Just because I didn’t have stapler ready I decided to secure my chicken wire with additional paint stir stick on the back of my window frame as it shows below in the pictures.
My mind stared to spin … I was already thinking about decorations on the mini sill. Dollar Tree has so many garden items for sale now and I am so happy that I purchased couple of days ago mini terra-cotta pots !! Wow all comes together un-planned! I am even more happy now!
look at them !! They are made for my window sill!! They fit perfectly!! soooo happy! Little bit of moss to fill them in and around and we are ready for some flowers!
How Awesome is that ! Chippy paint or crackle would look awesome on it too!
