Embroidery Hoop String Art Heart Wreath DIY
I so love to craft from scratch! That means pick what I have around me and combine all together. My Mom used to be such champ at that. She taught me so much. Let’s have fun with string art ! Today I like to create something that she used to do but I never tried it because I guess I was too cool. Growing up in Eastern Europe pushed us to be creative. I like to put my old cookie cutter to use in this craft. Just because it is close to Valentine’s Day I like to use heart shaped one. How about creating a wreath with string ? Let’s have fun together! I have made that wreath live with my Facebook friends! Let’s make Valentine’s Day embroidery hoop yarn wreath together!
Items needed to make a string art heart Wreath
Let’s begin !
Embroidery hoop that I used was 12 inches. It is perfect size at least in my eyes to display what I have intention to do. My Mom usually would form shapes to be fitted inside but I wanted to use something already made. I decided to use my old cookie cutter. Hope she is looking down on me and thinking that I am being super resorucefull
My cookie cutter had a little profile to it so I was super hopeful that will work. Directions are super easy … it is all about wrapping yarn around embroidery hoop and cookie cutter.
My goal was to have my heart shape cookie cutter “floating ” randomly inside my embroidery hoop. First you need to separate embroidery hoop and prep smaller amount of yarn that will be comfortable to weave around cookie cutter. My goal was not to overlap each wrap. to make all easier I would suggest to secure heart on 3 points so wrapping will be easier.
I decided to apply some interest to my heart by simply sticking some crystals that were topped off with mini heart.
I have to admit it was fun project to make ! It is not as perfect as my Mom made but I am super proud of my string art yarn wreath on the embroidery hoop.
Couple of adjustments to spacing between each wrap should make it better. To make sure all is stable I decided to fasten all with my second hoop
Don’t you think that this wreath is not only perfect for Valentine’s Day but it is good enough to hold all year round on display ?
