Super excited to share this project with you. It was a project that I always made with my Mom at the beginning of each Spring. if you follow me for some time you know I grew up in Eastern Europe and places as Dollar Tree were not existing. We always shopped our house and kept inventing things all the time. My blog is full of those ideas. Today I like share couple Spring decor ideas. Supplies needed to create book page cone nest
- cardboard
- book pages or newspapers
- Mod-Podge
- floral wire
- moss
- plastic egg and embellishments of your choice
- feathers
Let’s make a book page cone
As you can see I have a piece of construction paper and book pages to make my Spring nest.I always like to use that combo since it is stronger construction plus I can make any size I like . My goal here was to decoupage my book pages on construction paper to get that vintage feel it it
Decoupaging paper on paper is so fun.. I usually add a small amount of Mod-Podge on the base in this case was my construction paper to avoid wrinkles. Even though I didn’t have any I used my coffee filters and iron all to make sure my decoupage was seamless
All is done and dry so its time to create out of our reinforced book pages cone nest. I like to start from a corner as I roll to make sure pointy part is looking nice and seamless.
How to form book page cone
As you can see my book page spring vintage cone nest base is formed.
Depending on how you like to display your spring nest you can make nice handles out of floral wire. I like to roll each end on my pen to create a nice detail.
Adding metal pieces to the inside of cone will for sure help secure its hanging in the future. You could use that book page cone for so many things. Starting from Spring decor through summer til Fall or winter to display seasonal favorites
My goal was to make a Spring nest in my cone so I added what I had in my area. Some grapevine twig but those could be replaced with twig from your yard. I also added some greenery and of course tiny flowers. There will be no nest without egg or bird… right . Make sure to watch how I decorated all in the video below
