Let’s make smashed can Easter Bunny planter DIY
Check your recycle bin for nice size can and let the fun begin
I have made so many of them so make sure to check this blog post HERE for details how to start
So our can is ready! Time to work on it. You could for sure decoupage on it too but I was on the mission to make a plain bunny butt out of it so that means I need some texture so that means I need my napkin ply’s to the rescue.
if you follow me for some time you do know I love to decoupage so napkin ply’s are always handy but if you don’t have them you can use tissue too. Love to make faux rice paper that in the project like today it can be used right away. That was my plan for it. Make sure to check details on how to make FAUX RICE PAPER HERE
BUT, If you dont have rice paper on hand it is ok too
Make sure to check this post HERE to see how much fun you can have with napkin ply’s
I was on the mission to cover up lines that can have imprinted on and bring lots of texture for my bunny butt. It is a full blown trash to treasure spring DIY . All you need is a bit of mod podge and napkin ply’s . Apply thin coat of mod podge and add napkin ply’s but this time don’t worry about wrinkles. Make them even more.
As I mentioned my rice paper was the way to so a bit of mod podge and all was attached to my can without much of drying time
A bit of chalk paint and all is starting to look better and better. Don’t you think it starting to look awesome?
As all is drying grab your wire hanger or thick floral wire and form two loops. Those will be your bunny ears. I kept mine at 10 inches since I do want to shape them later. You can finish them any way you like. You can cover them with fabric or burlap . I chose to only outline them with chunky yarn
Time to make some bunny feet
My original thought was to cut out oval in the shape bunny feet and paint them white but then I spotted some wooden feet that I had in my stash so decided to get them both ready and decide at the end which one I should go with.
Decided to add to add a plant and insert my ears to it. How cool my spring Easter bunny planter looks already.. don’t you think so ?
Time to assemble our bunny butt diy
Little fur that I had leftover on top of can and now decision to make about feet … Here are my cardboard one trimmed with a bit of pearl trim. My goal here was make sure that my can would stand on its own with the help of feet
Help me decide which feet to use .. the cardboard ones look pretty cool together since they are small but those Dollar Tree cut outs with just little highlights of gold look pretty good too on my spring planter. Decisions… decisions …..decisions
HERE is another bunny diy I made out of cardboard. Make sure to check this perfect trash to treasure DIY
Love me my smashed can diy a lot!! Isn’t cute?
