How to make Flowers from Soda Can Easy
If you follow me for some hot seconds you know I love to look into my recycle bin here and there to look for treasures I can craft with. Glass bottles, coffee cans, egg cartons or any jars are so much fun to work with. I love creating with recycled materials and lately started to put soda cans to use. They are a great material to work with. Have you craft with soda canes? Aluminum is so easy to cut and work with of course with lots of caution. Are you ready to have fun with me? How about making some flowers out of aluminum cans? I love flowers. Let’s make some metal flowers shall we ?
Supplies needed to make aluminum flowers
- soda can
- scissors
- spray paint
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- hard surface of your choice
Let me just give you a little notice before I start . Soda can is super easy to cut and maneuver around I still want to stress out that I would suggest for you to wear protective gloves just in case so you will not cut yourself making one of those projects. I have learned that spray painted aluminum becomes super dull and with proper angles your risk of cuts is small.

There are so many pluses to aluminum crafting..lol They are not only making beautiful flowers but they are also sharpening your scissors .. did you know that? It is a new tip I learned from my Facebook friends who told me to cut some aluminum even foil to sharpen one of my dull scissors
My passion to craft with recycled materials is not new. Growing up in Eastern Europe helped me to look at things around me differently. My Mom taught me to put to use random things together and create. We had so much fun doing so. Being stuck at home with pandemic without much of crafting supplies pushed me to think outside the box and stay creative with what I have. We all have recycle bin right?
Daisy like flower
My original idea on how to make that flower was completely different. My goal was to create a layered flower but I know often times my plan changes as I craft. There is nothing better then letting craft lead you…. that is what my Mom taught me. Don’t fight with idea just let it flow. My can supply was low so choices needed to be made on the spot. Little twigs that ended up in this project was simple accident. As things were getting sprayed to save some time they got some gold on so i went for it and spray painted them all. Super pleased with that crafting accident.

Metal flower 2
Let me tell you quick story about this aluminum soda can flower. This one came to me from a exclusive website that sells similar pieces. They are not made from aluminum cans … I can assure you about that. Sticker price on that art was telling me a lot. They were made out of metal.
If you follow me for some time you do know white with a bit of gold is my favorite as I craft. Have no idea what gold brings to my project but do know it makes all things looks sooo good. This some say dogwood flower some say orchid is just my first one out of 3 that I planned to make so you better stay tuned.

Pieces like this are perfect to keep year round on display either together if they have something in-common or scattered around the house to highlight some vignettes
Soda can butterfly
This project is not a flower but it was made with soda can. Here is another example of so called mixed media project that also involves aluminum but mixed with cardboard. How fun is that ! Can you guess where is cardboard ? I made that project of course with my Facebook Friends that you can watch HERE

More Metal flowers Inspirations
I am not done with making aluminum flower or other creations for sure. Once in a while I love to decorate the ones i find around or transform the ones i find in the store to fit my mood or decor in my house. This one below is one of my latest i decorated. it was a blank flower from Michels that I bought on clearance
I am so amazed on how awesome this flower looks now. It was painted, decoupaged and burned … yes I did burn that flower. You must check all details in the video below for all DETAILS . It will be another soda can flower that I will attempt to make soon, You know me.

There are other flowers that I made out of aluminum but for those new post will be made . Let’s not forget about aluminum cookie sheets..lol They do make awesome flowers!
