How to make faux wood grain with glue
Ok so lets make faux wood look easy
As you can see I have my surface that I just lightly painted randomly gold. You always want to have to colors .. I usually pick darker first and then cover with light . Make sure to see all tips about crackle HERE
Just because I like to create a faux wood slice I decided to drop my Elmer’s Glue in a circular fashion
Grab a soft brush and distribute your glue same way in the circular mode. As you can see glue stayed a lot on the edges as my brush was doing its work .. I love it . Super easy painting technique
Don’t dry your glue .. grab a new paintbrush and apply nice amount of chalk paint in a circular motion . Make sure your glue is not mixing with paint. Try not to go over glue several times. That may prevent crackling
crackle begin to form almost instantly and as you can see those glue ridges created nice circular dimension
Make sure to dry all perfectly and apply clear wax first followed by dark wax. It does look scary but don’ worry all will look good . Our goal is to bring some additional color to crackle and ridges to get that nice faux wood
Grab a paper towel or soft cloth and wipe all off to expose its beauty
How gorgeous is that ! Absolutely love its texture
Let’s Decorate with faux wood surface
I just had few sola flowers laying around so decided to create a nice plaque with it.
So I started to group my flower right in the center …. but not covering all to still show wood grain
