Whimsical Feather Holiday Tree
Making Holiday Christmas trees is one of my favorite crafts to work on. I have made so many and try to come out with different versions. I have made trees out of sooo many different materials that from the beginning may look like it will not work. Today I decided with my friends at Facebook to make something different. Feathers were on my mind today so I decided to work with those. Have you ever made feather tree? I know I did but the one I like to share with you is one of the kind I think. I would call it a glamorous lady that fell in love with nature … Shall we start ? Let’s make holiday whimsical Christmas tree with feathers. It has to be tall tree with pine cones.
Items needed to create Whimsical Feather Holiday Tree
- tall cone at least 16 inches
- mini pine cones
- white feathers
- tree clippings
- hot glue gun
Let’s have fun and assemble feather tree
Every year this cone is really put to use and gets its makeover. There are always some natural elements in it . As you can see last year I had something in between rows of mini pinecones that were removed for storage. This year I like to change things up a bit and use some feathers to decorate with
Pictures may not be the greatest in this post because they are screen shots from my live video from facebook which you can watch BELOW
As you can see I have arranged my mini cones and started to work on my feather install. There is really no rules to that sine my feathers were bigger so I went with their natural flow interlocking them with help of hot glue on my cone.
All keeps moving pretty fast but I would say finger protectors are really needed in this process of Whimsical Holiday tree installation.
When you are satisfied with your feather alignment it is time to put our clippings on the tree.
Christmas feather tree is really happening
What I like to do with tree clippings is to simply insert them under my row of pine cones and gently reinforce them with hot glue since all needs to be removed anyway for storage.
Tree clippings are also installed in the interacting loose mode. Have to admit as I was doing that I was worried a bit. My whimsical tree was looking at some points like gnome wearing a hoola – hoop skirt …lol
Time for some embellishments …
Just to make glamours feather transition smooth I decided to add some mini shiny ornaments and some of a cinco de mayo chain I had laying around. Had to admit that those little details of pine cones made for me a nice tall tree.
Still trying to figure a place for this tree but it does look super cute next to my chunky yarn ones I made last year. HERE are more details about that project
I truly feel that my whimsical forrest is growing … What do you think about placing this feather tree near by my Grinch Tree
