Red White & Blue Felt Flower DIY
July 4th is around corner so it is time to think Red White and Blue decor! if you follow me for some time you know I love to make flowers so I decided to put some felt to work and create some patriotic decor. Shall we make some easy felt flowers ? Shall we make cute Americana home decor that you may possibly like to keep all year round.
On my last trip to Walmart I was able to pick up some nice sheets of felt in Red White and Blue so it was no brainer. I went through my craft area to look for something I could install my flowers on and I hit a Jackpot! Star with galvanized background that I picked at the Target dollar spot was just perfect for my project.

Prep Work
To prep we need to cut 3 inches long strips of felt out of Red White and Blue Felt sheets. Those pieces will create our petals and “hearts” of our flowers. It is my first making patriotic flowers so hang with me.
Flower center
Let’s create a center of our first flower …it was not easy for me to decide what strip would serve better as petal or as a heart of my felt flower so I decided cut each color into each. To cut a heart of your flower you need to fold your 3 inch strip of felt into half and make cuts making sure that you they are not done through
With the help of the hot glue roll that strip and your flower center is done. Wasn’t that easy ?
I can already see my perfect red white and blue flower decor coming to life …Can you?
Petals making
Cut other 3 inches of felt into rectangular pieces so we can start to form our flower petals. I like to round off a shorter side of each as it is shown on the picture below. Amount of petals is optional. I like to have at least 6 of them but if you follow me for some time the fuller the better.
We have all pieces ready and it is time to put our first flower together. I promise it is super easy. All what you need to do is to overlap slightly each petal around our flower center and secure that with dot of hot glue.
…and a flower are coming together. I had so much fun that I decided to mix my centers a bit. Love to make Americana home decor including flowers
