Steps on how to make a MacKenzie Childs Inspired fluted tray cake stand diy
As you can see my plate has a different profile then my inspiration but I will still work on my project.
My goal was to decorate center of my plate with some rub on transfers and then paint some MacKenzie Childs pattern.
Rub on transfers are so much fun to work with. They usually come on the big sheets full of different size of flowers or any designs that you can pick from depending on how big or small is your project.
Just because I wanted to concentrate on the center I decided to form a cluster out of pieces on my rub in sheet Love me my rub on transfers diy! Transfers are super easy to apply. Just rub them off on your surface and you are all set
Well I could do courtly check in black and white but simple stripes won for this project. Whole trick is to plan to have your width in pairs to accomodate 2 colors
Little bit or white acrylic paint highlights with some gold trim and my black and white pattern looks awesome. I usually like to let it dry for some time before final varnish is applied.
Make sure to check THIS WEBSITE for more Rub on transfers for your project.
MacKenzie Childs love to mix their patterns and bold colors so I am going to be bold and do it the same.. Let’s paint some courtly check on my bowl that will serve as a base to my cake tray.
Again it is all about a plan that I like to sketch with pencil before . My bowl is wider so my courtly check needs to change its size too .
Make sure to watch a video for all details how that is being plan foul proof. You will learn trick or two how to stretch your courtly check
Here is another Dollar Tree Diy of course inspired by MacKenzie Childs
Little bit of liquid gold color on the edges and under the plate to finish all off. How gorgeous is that plate already.
I love my pieces to have that high gloss look so after all dries properly Triple thick is the varnish I like to cover my work with including rub on transfer. Liquid gold already has it shine so no varnish is needed.
Napkins are fun to use when you are looking for some details .Here is my Dollar Tree glass plate makeover diy
