Let’s make toilet paper molds!
This whole idea was brought to me by one of my Sassies . She knows I love to work with molds. There are some molds that have super intricate details that are so hard to get exact with salt dough or hot glue. I bet they will work with clay but who has time for that ..lol Not me ..lol
My favorite of all time mold filler is hot glue or foam clay but I am always open to learn some new things
Grab your mold and let’s try new technique. As you can see I chose to use my oval frame one with lots of details
I love to work with toilet paper for a lots of things but have never tried it in a molds. To begin you need to lay your stripes of toilet paper over your mold and grab your paint brush . Dip it in a water and press down into mold super gently . Repeat that process with couple more layers of toilet paper.
We are in the process of adding layers to our form. It is super important to press gently to make sure your paper fits all tiny crevasses.
after 3 layers of water and paper it is time to add some hardener in the form of Mod Podge. repeat same steps but replace water with Mod podge
Just because I wasn’t sure if i like my oval frame to be open or not I decided to add a strip of paper towel as my last one and reinforce it first with Mod Podge and then second one with water.
Check this cool PUMPKIN paper mache project I made for the fall HERE. It is for sure the one to try! Pumpkins are my other obsession
Make sure all is dry and remove your toilet paper from your silicone form. It took good 24 for all to dry. Check how detail oriented that toilet paper form is! It is also super sturdy! absolutely love this technique. As you can see there are other indentation in the center but they are not clear since it wasn’t my concern . At the same time I thought that I would leave it and decoupage something on it
I thought bunny napkin will be perfect for my toilet paper mold to use on. I was nicely surprised that I could paint with chalk paint, decoupage and even wax it! How Cool! Perfect toilet paper mache
