How to Make Pleated Paper Heart
Paper crafting is something I grew up with and it is truly my favorite way to craft. Easy inexpensive way to learn and decorate on the budget. Today I like to share another way my Mom taught me how to fold super cool hearts. Perfect way to decorate your Valentines tree. Supplies needed to make pleated paper hearts
- cardstock paper
- tacky glue
- embellishments
How to make pleated paper hearts
They may look or sound complicated but rest assure they are soo easy to make. How cool is that !

Steps to make a pleated heart
You may like to use a regular copy paper to learn if you are more comfortable. Fold your A4 copy paper in half on a long site
Fold partially again in half just so you can find a middle of that as you can see below
Mark your half fold around 2 inches from the bottom (pic1)
Add a dot around 4 inched down on the folded side of your paper (pic2)
Mark a third spot around 1 inch down on opposite site (pic3)
Time to connect your dots now . I like to start with the bottom one and make angle between corners and middle (pic 1 and 2) Those bottom marks will create your bottom portion of heart When it comes to top .. the bigger the angle the fuller the heart is. You are making angle for the top of your pleated heart

As you can see all is cut and because I am dealing with white copy paper I wanted to add some color quickly so I decided to use my Distress pads and distribute all with my blending brushes. For your convince I added my affiliated links to Amazon below I intentionally chosen to only concentrate on the the bottom portion of my paper
Its time to start pleating for our Valentines day decor. Time to show you how to fold paper into heart. I like to start from one side and fold my pleats to the middle.
Reason for that is that all pleats are equal but as you get a hang of it you may develop your own way that I would love to learn.
Pleat as much you like .. I do have to admit I love tiny pleating. I promise it doesn’t take too much time
All is done and its time to fold our pleated paper into heart for our exclusive Valentines Decor
Grab the side of your heart and connect edges. I am so glad i have some color variation on my paper so you can easy see
Secure edges with tacky glue making sure pleads are nice and even. How cool and easy was that ! We just folded paper into heart! I always get so excited
Picture below show you 2 different pleats . One bigger and the one smaller. I wanted to show you how pleats change its feel.

There are so many ways to decorate even simple hearts made out of copy paper. Decoupage some napkins on them.. use some tissue..add tassels …. There is no limits.
