I completely forgot that my book hard covers were full of color. Time to do something with it so it is presentable on all sides
How to achieve a crackle on book covers
There are so many thing you could do with those hard covers . I decided to crackle it .. Aren’t you surprised ?
Just because my book had so many bright colors I decided to paint it lightly white and then cover it with some darker paint. Of course my choice was gold
- gold is dry so its time to add some Elmers glue on the entire hard cover. I like to add glue in different thickens all around since I want my crackle to have different feel.
- Dry you glue lightly …make sure it is still tacky and apply your acrylic paint.
Trick to a crackle is to use soft brush and make sure not to mix glue with paint especially in the areas where there is lots of glue
- As you can see I have a good amount of paint on my book cover but that is what I wanted
- Time to dry and wait for crackle to pop
You can watch this crackling process in the video below. I do use that technique a lot .
As with everything .. As soon as I see crackle i so want to do more so I decided to embellish my covers with some of my molds that I always have on the hand. Just because hot glue was near me I decided to fill my silicone form with it
