Another easy decoupage technique
Supplies need to make faux rice paper
- napkins
- saran wrap
- Wax or parchment paper
Let’s make rice paper easy!
Grab your paper napkin and let’s have fun! Grab your wax paper, napkins and saran wrap with your Mod Podge. you will love how easy it is !
Remove your napkin plies from your napkin but don’t discard them. We will put those to use too. We will work with every layer . There are napkins with 2 or 3 plies so make sure to remove all. I usually make my fingers sticky with a bit of mod podge to seperate them easy
Lay your wax paper on your surface to protect it ,Grab a big enough piece of your Saran Wrap to accommodate your napkin size. Don’t worry if it is not even and wrinkly . All is good
As you can see my napkin design had different four squares so I decided to separate them to make things easier
Just because I am dealing with 4 squares I decided to add mod podge in sections. Distribute a good amount of Mod podge over saran wrap
Don’t worry about wrinkles .. The more of them the better. Make sure that your napkin is saturated with Mod podge. No dry spots .As you can see my napkins are attached and full of wrinkles
Set it on the side and let it dry perfectly . I wouldn’t rush this process with heat gun or drier .. Let it dry on its own .
repeat the same steps with your Napkin ply’s. Check all those wrinkles on it. That is the best part for making your own faux rice paper.
Napkin ply’s are so fun to work with .. Make sure to check this post HERE to see what else you can do with them
see up close how my printed napkins look . It will take roughly an hour to all dry on its own.
Time to have a coffee and let all dry before we can move forward
As you can see below napkins are all dry so it is time to slowly separate them from saran wrap. They are super sturdy but take your time in this step . Perfect for mixed media decoupage
