Drawer planter
Supplies needed
- 3 – 4 x 6 Frames same style ideally with thick sides
- 1of each frames 4 x 6 ( thinner sides), 3.5 x 6 , 2,5 x 3.5
- door knob or wooden bead
- paint of your choice
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
Let’s go to work and build our Shabby Chic drawer!
Aren’t you surprised that I chose teal for my drawers? I know I am super surprised but this color really struck me on the Dollar Tree shelves so I decided to go for it
Prep work
Prep work with Dollar Tree frames is super easy. My goal was to remove backing and glass from my 2 out of 3 4×6 teal frames. Those 3 frames will make my drawers body if you may call that
Those 3 frames below will be my drawer fronts so I needed only glass and kick stand removed to make my install process easy
As you can see after all that was one I put backing without kick stand together. I like to stack them to create pretty cute drawer fronts.
As you can see my frames are all different colors but that is super easy fix. Getting them in the right sizes was my priority. Just because I fell in love with those teal frames I decided to turn all of them that color.
I didn’t have too much paint to choose from but had some so I went into mixing and look at that … I got super close !! yay … I am so proud of myself! Time to have fun with painting now and make my drawers all united at least color wise
I am not big fan of gold paint but if you follow me for some time you know that I see a bit of gold in almost every project. That maybe is a phase but whatever it is I love it. I really want to make Shabby Chic home decor out of those frames. My goal with gold paint was just simply highlight some details just because some my teal frames that will serve me as drawers body have some gold already. That is all but who knows how am I going to end up.
I think my frames are ready for some gold don’t you think so ?
Assembly time! Lets build our drawer
As all is drying I decided to put my 4×6 frames together and form a drawers of course leaving the one with back on the bottom. Hot Glue is super helpful in that process because I like to have shiplap like effect on the side that I will for sure coat with bit of gold …lol
This crystal knob that I had was my ideal choice for my drawers fronts but I had some issue with it … It did have a long bolt that I had to remove with mini Hacksaw. I was skeptical but it really worked !
Looke at those painted beauties … my drawer fronts are ready to put together
Shabby Chic home decor is coming together .Drawer planter is coming alive
it is super fun process … just layer them from bigger to smaller and top it off with cherry that is going to be our crystal knob
I am super pleased with how all looks now. Dollar tree home decor diy is taking its shape
Get ready for some pictures right now …even though teal is not color I have a lot of at home I need to admit I love that splash of color a lot
My drawers really make perfect planters
love them so much so I decided to create that project in few versions . Here is my other copy of that project . Drawer planter
