Easy Bacon Mushroom and Garlic Spaghetti Dinner
I am not any expert in the kitchen but love food and love to make it too and of course you know I love to experiment as I do in crafting. Recipe that I like to share with you today come together on its own and we loved every single bite of it . As I was going through my refrigerator content to find some ideas for dinner last night I couldn’t find anything that was appealing to me. Chicken breast strips were the one I wanted to work with but I was missing some ingredients to make our favorite pasta easy dinner dish.
Do you find yourself stuck in the kitchen like me sometimes? It does happen to me quite often … When it does, I always hear my Mom .. Pick ingredients you have and like and put them together…. So I was on the mission
My daughter was craving pasta so she pulled a capellini from our pantry. We are going someplace …we have our “dinner bones “. From that moment on all went super quick. We gathered all we could from our refrigerator to make things work. Check out below our ingredients
Spaghetti dinner INGREDIENTS
- 1 pound dried spaghetti
- Package of your favorite bacon strips
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 mushrooms, sliced
- Kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup grated Pecorino Romano cheese, plus more for serving
- 2 tablespoons coarsely chopped fresh parsley leaves
I knew we were onto something delicious for tonight dinner … We love bacon …yum, mushrooms and garlic. Don’t you just love that combination already?
Let’s put our dinner together
Time to do prep work so we can whip that recipe in no time
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, 7 to 9 minutes or according to package instructions. Meanwhile, cook the bacon in the pan.
When bacon is cooked remove from the pan and set to the site…Can you imagine how little of bacon is left ??
Add sliced mushrooms into the same pan , season with salt and pepper, and sauté until browned and tender, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic, red pepper flakes if using,
Add bacon and mushrooms and stir well until all is heat up
When the pasta is ready, reserve 3/4 cup of the cooking water, then drain the pasta. Add the pasta, reserved cooking water, and cheese to the skillet. Toss over medium heat until the cheese is melted and the sauce thickens and coats the pasta, about 2 minutes. Add the parsley and toss to combine. Serve in shallow bowls with more cheese for serving.
Added bonus to this dinner is that it is ready in less then 15 minutes
Vegetarian version
Remove bacon simple as that. Sautee mushrooms with a mix of olive oil, butter, and lots of garlic will also become a rich sauce for simple spaghetti. Don’t forget about extra cheese.
