Coffee Filters Dancer DIY
Do you remember to play with puppets growing up? Are you looking for some craft ideas that you can do with your child? I have super cute one that my daughter actually came up with. According to her they were making them in elementary school. I have to tell you I loved that craft so decided to try myself since I have so many coffee filters on hand. My daughter is a dancer so we were busy creating super cute stick people
Items needed for this project
- pipe cleaners or wire
- toilet paper strip
- mod-podge
- coffee- filters
- markers
Shall we start ?
Before we start our project we need to prep our filters. Are you ready to have fun with me decorating them? I have Bingo dabbers but you can for sure use some markers for the step
There is really no rule to decorating … just have fun with your markers ..lol. I was making stripes and dots all over
and it is time for fun part …watercoloring …coffee filters are the best! You can use syringe to squirt water on it but like me squeeze some from your paper towel like me
I like to let them my markers to soak that water for some time before I put them into oven to dry
As our filters are drying it is time to work on our dancer body. Time to bend them around and create our stick figure. Video below will for sure explain that step better so make sure to watch as a RECAP.
When you are satisfied with your dancer it is time to build up some dancing muscles …I like to use some pipe cleaners and toilet paper. Mod-podge is really helpful to keep tissue together. All you need to do is to tear your tissue into strips and wrapped them around your pipe cleaner
As our stick figurine of dancer is drying it is time to work on some clothes. look at those filters..They look awesome dry
Dress making instructions
Cut a small hole into the center of the second coffee filter (fold it in half a few times then snip off a tiny piece at the tip
Then slide the feet through the hole in the second coffee filter. As you can see our cut worked beautifully and it is time to dress our dancer
If you follow me for some time you know I like things to look fuller so I decided to add 2 more layers to my dancer dress and secure from the bottom with hot glue. You can also secure them with a ribbon at the waist to make our coffee filter dancer look even cuter
I had so much fun making them with my daughter
Don’t you just adore this coffee filter dancer ?
