How to make easy Christmas tree topper hat base
if you follow me for some time you know I dont really measure just go with the flow. This project is actually perfect since my goal was to make wonky lapsed hat. Don’t you think those are the best. If you are not into those wonky ones you can use cardboard or can as a hat top but we will get to it as we go into craft
As I was trying to determine my hat size I noticed my tea cup with oversize saucer that I keep my little treasures on my crafting table. It was perfect size for my hat
So I outlined it on my construction paper. As you can see I have a big rim .. My goal for this hat was to make its crown that mean top portion wider with height
With a help of my utility knife cutting out center was so easy. I wanted my tree topper hat to have sturdy rim so I doubled that with additional paper
To create my hot top I cut 8 inch wide strip of construction paper and closed it on the angle to have my top portion bigger then opening on the top. It was the easiest way to form my shape. All I need it to do is to cut top and bottom to have straight fit
Outline your top size of the hat and cut your circle. My wonky top hat tree topper diy is coming together.
Let’s decorate our vintage tree topper hat
Time to get those book pages for this Christmas craft to hide some of our openings. I like to just go over seams from construction paper with my book pages first and secure its edges installation. You could use glue or Mod Podge in this process.
Well now its time to decorate and make it look finished.
There are maybe wrinkles when you use big pieces of book pages but I really dont mind them. Using fabric for that hat topper would be for sure easier .
I just had a ribbon from Dollar Tree calling me name to be used in this book pages Christmas craft
Decided to use my lace ribbon on my hat rim and couple layers or white cord on the connection
There are so many ways you can decorate with. My decision was to use a my vintage doily and form some kind of cluster
Little cluster with my new bling looks perfect! Dont you think so ?
Little bit of some gold picks and I think my hat is ready.
TREE TOPPER DIY IS LOOKING BETTER AND BETTER AT LEAS IN MY EYES
There are some wrinkles on my book pages but that is ok .. I like it with all imperfections. I may actually use some fake snow or diamond dust to disguise those little boo-boos. Can you see this Christmas decor idea in your house ?
