Shabby Chic Easter Egg DIY
Don’t you just love to turn something inexpensive into something elegant and expensive looking? I love to change the way every day items look. Easter is one of my favorite holidays that I love to experiment a lot! Love spring decorations! Decorating Easter eggs is one of my favorite things to do around that time. I would love to show you couple of the ideas today. Love good budget friendly Dollar Tree Easter diy. My goal is to turn my egg to a Shabby Chic Easter decor.
Items you need to make Budget Friendly Easter Decor
- plastic egg I used giant plastic egg
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- paint I used chalk paint ( my favorite Deco- Art)
As I mentioned in the supply list I used for this project a giant plastic egg from Dollar Tree but your local Walgreens or grocery store for sure have them too
Let’s begin egg decorating
Directions are pretty easy and so much fun! Heat up your hot glue gun and have fun! No artistic skills needed. Hot glue is really easy to work with as you know. Treat it as your paintbrush. You can do swirls as I did, you can just do stripes or circles … Do what makes you happy, do what brings nice touch to your home decor.
As you can see I like twirls so I went for it …Made big, made them small and very tiny. I was going for Shabby Chic look.
Don’t worry if you lines are uneven …painting later will help a lot. As you are going around your design try to keep those hairy hot glue flyaways away from your project as much as you can so it will be easier later.
I know you cant avoid those flyaway so a gentle rub with paper towel will help to remove them .
When you are satisfied with your design it is time to paint. One coat of paint for sure will not be enough so get ready for couple of coats of paint that need to be completely dry in between.
I can already see that my budget friendly Easter egg is staring to look so good. Love that Shabby Chic feel to it! I think I achieved that feel.. What do you think ?
Couldn’t be pleased how my Giant Dollar Tree egg turned out . love that Shabby Chic Easter decor

I love this project and I have saved it on my Pinterest. I would have loved to see a picture of the paint specifically used. I don’t have that paint and cannot work on this project right now, since most stores are closed. Which other alternatives do you suggest?
