- Dollar Tree book frame or any book from home you have
- Plastic spider or any small plastic decor you like to use
- Paper Napkin
- Mod- Podge
- Black Paint
- Gold Paint
Steps to make a Spell Book
Depending on what you have as your decor it is time to plan your design. As you can see my book opens but any book that you have at home would work too. I decided to stay with only my big spider that I purchased at the Dollar Tree
- Time to decorate my spider surroundings with some 3D effect. In this process hot glue is really helpful. I am not an artist of any sort so I decided to outline my cob web first with pencil
- Trace your design with hot glue
I decided to decorate side of my book too
As you can see it is not perfect as any spider would do but it is good enough for me
- Cover your book with Mod-Podge
- Secure your spider with hot glue
- Cover your book all around with napkin. I used simple white napkin that I separated ply’s . You can also use toilet paper or paper towel for that step. Gently push your napkin on Mod-Podge exposing your design
- There is really no wrong doing here… Expose a little of or a lot. I like for my spider to be visible clear at some parts. In this process of decoupaging all the napkin wrinkles are actually welcomed. They bring so much extra texture.
As you can see back of my spider is covered with tissue web but front is sort of clear. That portion is up to you
- Once the Mod Podge is dry it’s time for some fun! Paint the entire book cover including what you have added to it. My choice was to paint it black
To be honest with you I was at this part of the project scared a bit because it looked like a hot mess for a quick minute. I actually enjoy my fall decor little diy
- Let a paint dry completely before going to next step that will for sure enhance our spell book. I am liking my Halloween decor idea more and more
- Let’s highligt our creation. If you follow me for some time you know I love metallic gold so I am going for it. You can also highlight that with white. I am positive it will look awesome too
I absolutely love how all is finally showing nicely.
There you have it! Easy Peasy right?! I am so pleased with final look. It is spooky enough for me. Perfect little addition to my fall decor diy’s Wonder how my little trick or treaters will feel when I place some candy in it
