Easy Honey Garlic Pork Chops
These easy honey garlic pork chops dinner idea are one of those simple skillet dinners that deliver a lot of flavor without a lot of work. Tender pork chops are coated in a rich, sweet and savory garlic sauce and finished with fresh scallions for an easy dinner that looks every bit as good as it tastes.
The sauce is really the star here. Honey adds sweetness, soy sauce brings that savory flavor, and plenty of fresh garlic ties everything together. As the pork chops finish cooking, the sauce thickens and coats every piece with that glossy honey garlic goodness.
This is a great recipe for a busy weeknight, but it is flavorful enough to serve when you want dinner to feel a little more special.
Why You’ll Love These Honey Garlic Pork Chops
Everything comes together in one skillet, the ingredients are simple, and the sauce can easily be adjusted to suit what you already have in your pantry.
You can make these with boneless or bone-in pork chops, although boneless pork chops make a particularly quick and easy weeknight meal.
And make sure you have something nearby to soak up that sauce. Rice, mashed potatoes, noodles, or even a piece of crusty bread will do the job nicely.

Ingredients
You will need:
- 4 boneless pork chops
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- A little oil for browning the pork
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Chopped scallions for serving
How to Make Honey Garlic Pork Chops
Season the pork chops on both sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Heat a little oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and sear them until nicely browned on the first side. Turn and brown the other side.
Depending on the thickness of your pork chops, you may need to lower the heat slightly and allow them to continue cooking for several minutes.
While the pork is cooking, combine the honey, soy sauce, chicken broth, minced garlic, lemon juice or apple cider vinegar, and cornstarch. Stir until smooth.
Pour the honey garlic mixture into the skillet around the pork chops.
Allow the sauce to simmer gently as the pork finishes cooking. As it heats, the sauce will begin to thicken and coat the pork chops.
Spoon some of that sauce over the top as they cook.
The pork is ready when it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F in the thickest part.
Remove the skillet from the heat and sprinkle generously with chopped scallions.
And whatever you do—don’t leave that sauce behind. Spoon plenty of it over each pork chop when serving. 😋
Don’t Have Every Ingredient? Use What You Have
You know me—I am not running to the store because I’m missing one ingredient. 😂
No Honey?
You can substitute brown sugar for the honey.
For this recipe, use approximately 1/4 cup brown sugar. Because the sauce already contains broth or water, it will still come together beautifully.
You could also use a combination of brown sugar and a touch of molasses if you want a slightly deeper flavor.
No Cornstarch?
Use flour instead.
I actually made mine with flour because that is what I had in the kitchen, and I liked the consistency. Flour gives the sauce a slightly softer, more gravy-like finish rather than the very glossy consistency you get from cornstarch.
As a general guide, use approximately 2 tablespoons of flour in place of 1 tablespoon of cornstarch.
Whisk it well into the liquid before adding it to the skillet so you don’t end up with lumps.
No Chicken Broth?
Use water.
Chicken broth adds another layer of flavor, but water works perfectly well if that is what you have on hand.
Sometimes dinner is simply about opening the cabinet and making it work. 😂
Boneless vs. Bone-In Pork Chops
You can make this honey garlic pork chop recipe with either.
Boneless pork chops cook quickly and are especially convenient for an easy weeknight dinner.
Bone-in pork chops may take a little longer depending on their thickness, but the cooking method is the same.
Rather than relying only on cooking time, check the internal temperature. Pork chops are ready when the thickest portion reaches 145°F.
What to Serve With Honey Garlic Pork Chops
There is so much good sauce here that I like serving these with something that can soak it all up.
Rice is an obvious choice, but mashed potatoes are delicious too. You could also serve them with buttered noodles, roasted vegetables, green beans, broccoli, or a simple salad.
And definitely spoon a little extra honey garlic sauce over whatever you serve alongside the pork.
Can I Make the Sauce Ahead?
Yes. You can mix the honey garlic sauce ingredients ahead of time and refrigerate the mixture in a covered container until you’re ready to cook.
Give it a good stir before adding it to the skillet, particularly if you’re using cornstarch or flour because the thickener can settle at the bottom.
How to Store Leftover Pork Chops
Store leftover pork chops and sauce together in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
When reheating, warm them gently so the pork doesn’t dry out. If the sauce becomes too thick after refrigeration, add a small splash of chicken broth or water while reheating.
