Grab your book pages or even a newspaper and roll it up. You can use a skewer to help your roll it too. I like to secure mine with hot glue

Can’t tell you how many roll since all that depends on the size of your canvas. My canvas was 9×12 so 7 rolls were plenty to make nice looking tree.
All you need to do is just glue your rolled up book pages in the shape of Christmas tree of course after trimming them a bit.
There are so many options you can use for tree trunk if you don’t have spools. I have tried one with drift wood, pearls and sticks too. All of them look gorgeous . Just match your rolled up tree embellishments later
