Let the MacKenzie Childs inspired pumpkin fun begin !
Here is the pumpkin that I hope I one day to buy but for now I will be trying to get close all by myself
As you can see pumpkin is super nice and I know it will be time consuming but I am up for it! As you can see this pumpkin design requires nice part so it is easier to paint. Not going to lie I wanted first to try on a smaller pumpkin just to see how all will work out. I went through my stash and found this cutie ! It doesn’t have all those nice parts but we are learning right .. It does have awesome stem ! I am obsessed with stems they make all pumpkins it for me.. bring so much personality!
I have made so many stems. Check some of them HERE made out of twine . Video below will show you easy ways to make whimsical stems out of paper
As you can see on those pictures my parts of my wonky pumpkin that I absolutely love are small and un even so I need to treat some of them in groups to get my pattern together
Just because my goal was to paint black and white pattern It is only easier to paint whole pumpkin white and then paint my black colors on it. Don’t you think that stem and my pumpkin shape will make nice whimsical fall diy ?
Time to plan our MacKenzie Childs inspired pattern on the pumpkin
As you can see I decided to paint bigger sections in check and smaller ones in the stripes that are on the angle. Spaces are roughly less then half an inch big
Let the pumpkin painting begin!
It is a slow process but super fun. My pumpkin doesn’t look any close to any high end fall decor yet . My lines are wonky since all is super small but that my detail brush will help me adjust and correct my lines. Good brushes are the key in this craft. Make sure to get those Zen brushes that I listed earlier in my supply list to help you do the work. They really work!
Lines were corrected so now it is time mess them up again and add some highlights with a bit of gold paint here and there and dry brushed white on the darker paint. Absolutely love that look
You can watch video below to see how i add that additional life to any pattern . Check my trash to treasure makeover of my set of fruits
a bit of gold leaf liquid on my stem and a Triple thick to bring that amazing gloss and our MacKenzie Childs inspired fall diy is done !
it seams all is good on all sides and drying so we can embellish some
little big of green moss will bring even more whimsical feel
One tiny leaf with a bling and I think it is all set! My mini whimsical MacKenzie Childs Inspired Pumpkin diy is completed ! Now it does look like super nice high end fall decor
I had so much fun that decided to put my other wonky pumpkin to work and create its ” Mama ” so there is a pair. Even though original pumpkin this project was inspired by had a different pumpkin .. I still went for it. Here it is .. much bigger then the one we worked on earlier. Still wonky in its shape but I love it so let’s plan its MacKenzie Childs pattern
Let’s make Mama pumpkin !
Love everything about this pumpkin shape! We already learned that we may need to treat some pumpkin bumps as pairs. I do think sticking with 2 patterns in this one will work the best. This pumpkin is actually perfect even in its color! I don’t need to paint it. It already has nice off white hue
Lines of my pattern are looking awesome ! Keep in mind that I am trying here to go with shape of my pumpkin so some of my lines are wider then others. I was on the mission to bring even more its 3 D effect with paint
Forgot to mention to keep all nicely organized it is a good idea to mark spaces that you are going to paint somehow so you can just paint
Let the painting begin!
Spaces are marked on the other side and it is time to have fun! Super excited about my MacKenzie Childs inspired painted pumpkin fall diy. Love me my fall high end decor already!
it is for sure to paint Mama pumpkin! There are still some wonky lines but those I will correct at the end
Little corrections here and there and my wonky pumpkin is looking better and better ! As I was correcting my lines with white paint I took advantage and wiped my brush on some darker portion of my pattern to create more interest. Notice not all colored portions are highlighted
Time for gold ! You know I love me some gold! I love to highlight with it too in between patters but not everywhere as I did with white paint
Time to add some details to my High End MacKenzie Childs Inspired painted pumpkin!
it is looking better and better with every stroke of gold ! Love it !
Time to seal and add a shine to my pumpkin. Dura clear Gloss Varnish will make my creation shine as ceramic and will also protect all my hard work
As all is drying it is time to to work on some more sparkle that will be needed here! I am on the mission to diamond dust some moss and top of my painted pumpkin
It is not glued yet just placed to make sure I like it after I am down with all
If you follow me for some time you know I will for sure bring some bling that I love ! Make sure to get yours HERE. Those pieces are the best and budget friendly
it does look super nice ! Wish camera showed that sparkle better but I am on the mission
I just need to give you a warning … I am in trouble ! How do I finish my top … So many options so buckle up and help me decide. You know I love me some crowns ! Let’s crown our Mama pumpkin
Below you will see some of the crowns you can find on Amazon to crown your pumpkin
