How I Turned Old Jeans into a Coiled Fabric Basket

Have some old jeans lying around? Let’s turn them into something charming and totally useful — a coiled fabric basket! This no-sew DIY uses scrap denim, macramé cord, and hot glue to create a rustic, handmade container that’s both functional and full of personality. I’ve made a few of these now (and even added a bow to this one 😜), and I’m linking up the full video tutorial, my signature bow tutorial, and another fun basket variation below. I didn’t plan this.

One minute I was staring at a pile of old jeans, and the next… I was chaining macrame cord like a woman on a mission. 😄

This project wasn’t supposed to happen — but somewhere between ripping denim, making loops, and hot-gluing chaos, I ended up creating something I truly love:

What I Used:

• Yarn yarn
• crochet hook
• macrame cord

How It Happened:

No fancy tools. Just trial, error, and a bit of crochet because my needle was too short. (And now… I’m kinda hooked. Pun intended. 🧶) Not a proffesional crotcheter but know basics so decided to go from there

Started with simple chain made a circle out of macrame cord because it was easier and the introduced my crotchet thread and ripped jean yarn . Make sure to watch whole video at the end of this blog post

I had so much fun that decided to keep on going just to see .. So I increased to make bottom bigger .. Single crotcheting double in every other stich starting row 2 and then when i was satified with size i started to decrase with single crotchet every other for 2 rows and then continued till the top
